The NTEU is the union for all tertiary education staff - academic and general staff alike. We have branches on every university campus in Australia.
The NTEU runs a variety of campaigns to promote the rights and conditions of university staff. We are currently negotiating nation-wide enterprise bargaining agreements with all major universities, to substantially improve pay and conditions.
This campaign to promote academic freedom works to ensure that universities remain centres of free thought and learning. The last eleven years have seen significant pressure and undue criticism of academic teaching staff, with untrue accusations of bias.
The NTEU is working with university staff to emphasise the important principles of academic freedom, university autonomy and the public good engendered by creative independent teaching and research.
